Amelia Carter
Amelia Carter is a multidisciplinary artist and producer from Philadelphia. She is a self-taught filmmaker who directed and produced the films, “Until and Unless: Decriminalizing Queer India” and "Testimony: 52nd St. and the Invisible Violence of UPenn" (winner of the 2021 Blackstar Film Festival Shine Award). Amelia has 10 years of community organizing experience in Philadelphia, where she most recently founded and directed the grassroots organization Penn Community for Justice and Philly Human Rights Appeal. Currently, Amelia is the Managing Director of the art and history organization, Monument Lab. In 2022 Amelia was granted the Leeway Transformation Award for her years of service in art for social change.
Beth Lewis
Beth Naomi Lewis is a Philadelphia-based educator and artist. Her illustrations have been published in children's books, magazines, and websites. Holding a Master's in Fine Arts from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with a focus on Studio Art and Art History, she has dedicated twelve years to teaching and instructing at various Pennsylvania art centers and institutions. Notable affiliations include the Please Touch Museum, Taller Puertorriqueño, Bartram's Garden, Bloomsburg University, and more recently, the Jubilee School, where she continued her youth-focused art instruction. Beth's personal artistic exploration revolves around the human form, investigating its ties to identity, place, and imagination. Her diverse projects encompass a wide array of materials and techniques, including painting, sculpture, and drawing.
Li Sumpter
Li Sumpter, Ph.D. is a mythologist and multidisciplinary artist who applies strategies of worldbuilding and mythic design toward building better, more resilient communities of the future. Li’s creative research and collaborative design initiatives engage the art of survival and sustainability through diverse ecologies and immersive stories of change. She is a cultural producer and eco-arts activist working through MythMedia Studios and the Escape Artist Initiative while remaining actively engaged in interdisciplinary projects with Monument Lab, Painted Bride Art Center, and the Village of Arts and Humanities. Li is a recipient of the 2018 Sundance Institute and Knight Alumni grant, a 3-time recipient of the Leeway Art and Change Grant, a 2020 recipient of the Leeway Transformation Award, a 2022 recipient of the Velocity Fund, a 2022 Afrofuturist-in-Residence with the Village of Arts and Humanities, a 2022 Leeway Media Artist x Activist-in-Residence with the Theatre in the X, and was recently named a 2023 Bertha Artivist.
